About Team Rubicon Canada
Team Rubicon Canada is a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves communities before, during, and after disasters and crises. The organization unites military veterans, first responders, and skilled civilians under a shared mission: to serve communities in need.
Team Rubicon Canada’s growing force of more than 4,200 volunteers and staff - known as Greyshirts - responds to emergencies such as severe weather events, wildfires, and flooding, while also supporting communities through preparedness and mitigation efforts.
Team Rubicon Canada harnesses the unique skills and experiences of their Greyshirts to operate as one of the most trusted disaster response organizations in Canada, delivering services at no cost to affected communities.
Since their founding in 2016 in response to the Fort McMurray wildfires, Team Rubicon Canada has been deployed on more than 130 operations across Canada and internationally, driven by their core belief that no community should face disaster alone.
Beyond their mission of service, Team Rubicon Canada offers those who once served - in uniform or otherwise - a renewed sense of community, identity, and purpose. They give them the opportunity to exchange one uniform for another: the Greyshirt.
Coca‑Cola Programming
Support for Team Rubicon Canada, from The Coca‑Cola Company and from The Coca‑Cola Foundation, has enabled the organization to expand their cadre of trained and equipped Greyshirt volunteers – military veterans, first responders and committed civilians united in service.
Thanks to this partnership, Greyshirts have gained hands-on experience in chainsaw operations, disaster response, and field leadership. Specialized training programs have empowered women, veterans, and local community members, enhancing job preparedness while building local disaster resilience.
Support from Coca‑Cola and from The Coca‑Cola Foundation has helped Team Rubicon Canada grow their national instructor base and deliver mission-critical training from coast to coast, enabling the organization to bridge the skills gap, strengthen their ability to serve, and equip Canadians with the tools they need to lead, respond and rebuild.
